Search Galveston County Inmates

Galveston County inmate records are searched through the county jail roster, then through state, federal, immigration, and written request channels when the person is not in local custody. A Galveston County jail roster search can show current inmates, booking charges, arrest dates, and booking agency details. Sentenced state prisoners, federal detainees, ICE detainees, and municipal arrestees may require a different lookup path.

Galveston County Jail Roster

The official current-custody lookup is the Galveston County P2C Inmate Inquiry. It is branded as Galveston County Sheriff's Office P2C and is part of the broader Police-to-Citizen portal. The roster is free, no login was observed, and the public list displays current inmate rows that can be searched by name and filtered after the list loads.

The county roster is not the whole custody map. Galveston County Jail holds adult pretrial detainees, county-sentenced inmates, local holds, parole and other-agency holds, immigration holds when shown, and some municipal arrestees after transfer. League City, Texas City, and Galveston Police can have their own short-term custody or booking paths before a person appears in the county jail. A sentenced felony inmate may move to TDCJ, while federal and ICE custody use separate systems.

The official P2C Inmate Inquiry screen shows the last-name and first-name search controls used for Galveston County inmate records.

That search page is the best first step for current Galveston County Jail custody, but it should be paired with phone or records channels when timing matters.

Use Galveston County Inmate Search

Start with the official roster rather than a general web search. P2C result rows include enough detail to separate people with similar names, including race, sex, age, primary charge, arrest date, and booking agency. If the list is already loaded, the Filter Inmate List control and page-size choices can narrow the visible results.

  1. Open the Galveston County P2C Inmate Inquiry page.
  2. Enter the last name. Add a first name when the last name is common.
  3. Click Search, then use Filter Inmate List or page-size controls if needed.
  4. Review the full displayed name, descriptors, primary charge, arrest date, and booking agency.
  5. Open a detail entry where available and confirm current custody with the jail if release, bond, or transport is urgent.

New bookings may not appear instantly, and P2C does not publish a refresh interval. For a time-sensitive custody answer, call Galveston County Jail at (409) 766-2315.

Galveston County Search Fields

The P2C search-field inventory is narrow, which makes exact spelling important. No public wildcard instructions were located on the P2C inmate page. Try alternate spellings and partial first-name searches before assuming the person is not in custody.

Galveston County Roster Fields

A Galveston County inmate record should be read as a booking and custody record. The primary charge may be a hold, a warrant, or an arrest charge, and the prosecutor may later file a different court charge. Detail pages can include release date, next court date, image area, and total bond amount, but not every field is guaranteed for every person.

FieldWhat It Shows
NameDisplayed full name with separate last, first, and middle fields in list view.
Race / Sex / AgeBasic public descriptors, not an outcome or finding.

Galveston County Lookup Channels

The research found several official channels, and each one answers a different question. The P2C roster is for current jail inmates. The Recent Arrests page is better for booking photos and recent arrest cards. The sheriff's records division handles written public-information requests. Tyler Odyssey handles court records after arrest. TDCJ, BOP, and ICE handle custody outside the county jail system.

VINELink-style notification is also available through Texas IVSS channels, but local jail participation must be checked in the portal. Treat notification tools as alerts, not as the official court file or jail roster. For a person with a safety concern, a pending case, or a custody-status change, combine IVSS with the jail line, Tyler Odyssey hearing search, and the relevant clerk or prosecutor contact.

Galveston County Jail Facilities

Galveston County's inmate records depend on facility type. The county jail is the main P2C roster facility. League City and Texas City maintain municipal jail or booking functions. Galveston Police have a temporary holding path. Hospital Galveston and Young Medical Facility are TDCJ medical correctional facilities, so they use state locator channels.

Galveston County Booking Records

Booking begins after arrest or warrant pickup by a sheriff, municipal police officer, constable, state trooper, federal authority, or another agency. A person may first be processed by a city jail or holding facility, then moved to Galveston County Jail depending on charge, warrants, custody needs, and agency practice. Public P2C rows show the core booking data: name, descriptors, primary charge, arrest date, and booking agency.

After booking, Texas Article 15.17 requires a magistrate process without unnecessary delay and not later than 48 hours. The sheriff's corrections page says that once booking is complete, the person can make two free two-minute calls to facilitate release, notify loved ones, or contact an attorney. Most people have a bond and/or fine, but a parole warrant, out-of-county warrant, immigration hold, or federal hold can block release even when another charge has a bond.

Detainer
A hold request from another agency, such as parole, immigration, another county, or federal authorities.
PR bond
A personal bond that allows release without posting the full cash amount when a court allows it.
Primary charge
The main charge or hold listed by the jail, not always the final court charge.

Galveston County Inmate Services

The sheriff's corrections page and ConnectNetwork records point to local visitation, phone, trust fund, and video services. ConnectNetwork lists Galveston County TX-Jail Site ID 123 for AdvancePay Phone, PIN Debit, Trust Fund, Visitation Scheduling, and Video Visitation. The county-accessible text did not publish a complete pod-by-pod visit schedule, so confirm visit times before traveling or funding an account.

Mail and clothing rules are also handled through the sheriff's corrections information, but the accessible text reviewed did not expose a complete mail-address format or prohibited-items list. Do not guess a book-in number format or package rule. Use the current corrections page and the jail information line before sending mail, clothing, money, or visit requests. Attorney access is separate from ordinary family visitation because the sheriff page links attorney expedited access materials.

Records requests belong in writing. The sheriff's Administrative Services page lists GCSOrecords@co.galveston.tx.us, Records phone (409) 766-2320, and the 601 54th Street records address. That channel is useful for public booking records, arrest reports, and materials not exposed online. It is not a substitute for calling the jail when the only question is whether a person is in custody right now.

Note: No official Galveston County sheriff or police mobile app with inmate roster, warrants, or jail lookup features was verified in the research pass.
